“I've really enjoyed being part of the Ambassador Programme for the Black Curriculum so far. I think it is an amazing opportunity, and I am really honoured to be a part of the first steps of positive change towards a more inclusive and appropriate curriculum for the modern student.
As an ambassador, I've found it really liberating to do independent research, and it’s definitely developed my skills as a researcher as well as my confidence as an independent worker and learner. Also, working as a team has been an interesting experience; it's something I’ve previously found pretty difficult, but this experience has definitely given me an understanding as to what's necessary to make a good team.
I’ve gained valuable insight into the challenges of teamwork, and I am learning how to overcome them, but more than that it's shown me what joys teamwork can offer with people who share similar passions as you. I’ve definitely made some good friends thanks to this programme and have learnt how friendships can be a really valuable aspect of teamwork.
I feel fulfilled and inspired by discovering the forgotten, historical heroes who played a large hand in bringing about the diverse society we live in today.”
